CensusAtSchool is a project that gathers data about K-12 children using an online survey
and returns the data and curricular materials that use that data to the teacher of those children
for use in the classroom. It is a voluntary project that makes the data handling and chance part
of the curriculum fun and engaging while educating on the importance of evidence based decisions
across the curriculum. This workshop shows how to use the activities of the C@S project to
implement California's Curriculum Content Statndards in Statistics, Data Analysis and
Probability in practice and across the curriculum. The workshop will be of interest to teachers,
university professors teaching the first course in Statistics, official statisticians and parents
and education advocates.

Curriculum Resources for K-12 teachers

The 2nd International CensusAtSchool Workshop gathers together all the directors of the C@S project
in several countries and statistics education and government leaders in the United States to engage
participants into active learning of the concepts and resources that have proved effective in children'
comprehension of data handling and chance in the classrooms.

Participants in the Workshop will receive a booklet with K-12 curriculum resources selected from the
many free activities in the participants' projects, all adapted to the culture and scenario of the Californian
school population. The workshop leaders will show how these activities have been used effectively in classrooms.

Poster Competition

If you have a poster or project that uses Census data, or data about your students, you may submit it as an
entry to the Poster Competition on Monday 28th of July in the evening. Monetary prizes will be given to the
first, second and third best entries.
